Community Development

Major Responsibilities

• To provide direction in comprehensive planning for residential and economic development, and for the future growth of Zanesville
• To research funding sources that can provide financial assistance to help implement the City’s comprehensive planning efforts, whether initiated by Community Development or other departments

Standard Services Provided

• Comprehensive planning
• Administration of the City’s Zoning Code
• Assistance to four City Planning boards (Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Preservation Board and Downtown Design Review Board) and the Shade Tree committee
• Administer City’s Community Development Block Grant Program, CDBG funded housing rehabilitation program, CDBG funded Revolving Loan Fund program for economic development within the City’s limits.
• Coordinates Federal/State Prevailing Wage Rate Program

• City maps and neighborhood mapping
• Computer database development
• Neighborhood planning with community groups
